Cleaning Between Back-to-Back Guests: A Timing Guide

When a new guest arrives the same day an old one leaves, the cleaning window is everything. The goal is to leave enough room that a delay does not become a problem.

Work backwards from check-in

Take your check-in time and subtract the time the cleaning realistically needs, plus a buffer. Set your checkout time to leave that room. A later check-in gives you more breathing room than an earlier checkout does.

Tell the cleaner the real deadline

Share both the checkout time and the next check-in on the job, so the cleaner can plan their day around the window.

Plan for late checkouts

Guests sometimes leave late. Decide in advance how you will handle it, such as a stricter checkout time, a late-checkout fee where the platform allows it, or a flexible cleaner. Ask your cleaner to message you as soon as they arrive if the guest is still there.

Your next turnover, already handled.
