- Resetting the kitchen: dishes, fridge, counters and coffee station
- Wiping entryways and mopping away winter salt and slush
- Vacuuming carpets and mopping hard floors
- Wiping balconies, patios and shared entrances
- Taking trash and recycling out on collection day
- Taking photos of each room and flagging damage or missing items

Des Moines jobs reach cleaners across the metro, including West Des Moines, Ankeny, Urbandale, Johnston and Altoona. Winter weather and State Fair traffic can slow trips, so give bidders a clear checkout window.
Local rules your Des Moines hosts are working with
These apply to the host, not to you, but knowing them helps you understand what hosts ask of a cleaner. This is an overview, not legal advice.
- Iowa law generally bars cities from adopting short-term rental specific permits, license fees or conditional use rules.
- General health, safety, nuisance and traffic rules still apply, in the same way as for other homes.
- State and local hotel and motel taxes may apply, so confirm what your platform collects.
- HOA and condo documents can restrict short-term rentals if they clearly say so.
- Keep working smoke alarms and carbon monoxide detectors in the home.
